All Comfort, All Style, All the Time

Zeke's Outlook

In my daily life I prioritize the utility and value of my clothes just as much as their appearance. This has led me to become a lifelong lover of vintage military and workwear that do not sacrifice either. It’s clear to me that Nigel Cabourn feels the same way. The field pant is a take on a classic British military design popular around the 1940s. The color, the sturdy double belted waist, the buttons on the belt loops, everything looks just like a true supply trouser, but the light linen fabric mimics the comfort of a well worn piece. For all the same reasons I think the Engineered Garments sailor pants are similarly wonderful, and I’m a sucker for an intricate buttoning experience. Both are the definition of a staple trouser.

I often opt for variations in texture and shape rather than color and the Yeung Chin Emb vest and wide pants are exactly what I look for. Wearing both I feel like a ragged tapestry in the best way possible. Yeung Chin’s work is a quintessential mastering of messy patchwork aesthetics where everything feels chaotic while in its right place. The pants are baggy, wide, and so comfortable I’d wear them to sleep.

The Mai Gidah short padded jacket feels like a big warm hug. It makes me feel like a little kid waddling around in a down puffer jacket two sizes too big, in the best way possible. To have that feeling while also looking as clean as it does is remarkable. Mai Gidah’s stuff leans heavily into oversize cuts and shapes but always looks more subtle and fitted than one would expect. It’s all comfort, and all style, all the time.
