A rib and a pleat are two different ways of putting parallel lines into cloth, one knitted in and one pressed in, and running them together gives the surface two scales at once: the fine regular rib and the broader pleat over the top of it. On a polo, which is about as plain a shape as menswear has, that doubled texture is the only thing happening, and it is enough. Black keeps it quiet.
Why we selected it
It is the simplest thing in the line and the doubled texture keeps it from being dull.
Materials and construction
100% polyester, made in Japan, in black. Medium rib with the signature pleating.
Fit notes
Pleated and ribbed cloth both give, so it sits close without restricting. Expect it to open out in wearing.
Care
The pleats are heat-set and permanent, so it washes without losing them. Wash at 30°C or below in a laundry net on a short cycle, or press gently by hand, and never tumble dry, iron, steam, or dry clean. Store it rolled along the direction of the pleats.
