Issey Miyake Square Rib AP Tunic

At tunic length the square rib stops being a texture on a small garment and becomes a surface. A grid rib reflects light in two directions at once, and over a longer panel that produces a subtle, shifting sheen as the wearer moves, which is not something a conventional vertical rib can do. The wrist openings return here, so the sleeve is adjustable in the same way, and the longer body means changing where your hand sits changes the read of the whole silhouette rather than just the arm. Black makes the texture harder to see and more rewarding when you do.
Why we selected it
The same cloth and the same sleeve idea as the cropped top, given enough length to actually demonstrate them.
Issey Miyake‘s studio builds garments that the wearer finishes, and the adjustable wrist is that principle at its most practical.
Materials and construction
50% cotton, 47% nylon, and 3% polyurethane, made in Japan, in black. Nylon for the definition of the rib, polyurethane for the recovery that keeps a long knit from dropping.
Fit notes
Tunic length with a ribbed collar and long sleeves. It works layered or worn on its own: the rib has enough recovery to hold a line by itself and enough give to go over something.
Styling
Over a narrow trouser it reads as a single column. Over the Rustic Silk Skirt it becomes the disciplined half against the volume. Worn alone, it is close to a dress on a shorter frame, which is worth knowing before choosing a size.
Care
Wash cool, no heat. The recovery in the blend is what keeps the length from stretching out. Our fabric care guide covers polyester, nylon, and technical cloth.
