Green is the color that does the most work in a wardrobe built on military sources and the one that is hardest to place, because it sits between a neutral and a color and behaves like both depending on what is next to it. Against charcoal or gray it reads neutral. Against beige or ivory it reads as the color in the outfit. A plain cotton trouser in green is therefore a more flexible thing to own than the same trouser in navy, which only ever does one job. British military dress is one of the deepest strands in Cabourn's archive, and this is the trouser that comes out of it most directly.

Sizing runs 30, 32, and 36 on a waist scale. Cotton of an unstated weight will shrink once on a hot wash and then stop, so wash it cool from the start if you have chosen close.

With the British Officer's Shirt in white, which is the most direct pairing in the house's work, or the Fisherman's Shirt. Under the Jeep Coat, which is the other green piece and close enough in tone to read as one decision.
