A perfume pendant is a very old idea. Before scent came in bottles that travelled, it was carried on the body in something small and sealed, and the object that did it was jewellery first and a container second. This is that object, made now, in silver. What makes it interesting is that the function is real rather than commemorative: it holds scent, and wearing it means the scent moves with you at the collarbone rather than being applied and then fading from a wrist. It is also, plainly, a good pendant with nothing on it, which is the harder half.
Why we selected it
We look for pieces that are one idea carried out completely, and this is one. It is also the kind of thing a person keeps.
The label was founded by Ann Demeulemeester in 1985 and has been designed by Stefano Gallici since 2023.
Materials and construction
One hundred percent silver.
Sizing and dimensions
Worn long as a pendant. The chain length and the pendant dimensions are not recorded, and we would rather tell you accurately than approximately, so ask us and we will measure it.
How it is worn
Long, over a plain neckline. It is the only thing that should be at the neck.
Care
Silver tarnishes in air and comes back with a cloth rather than a dip, which is harsher than it needs to be. If it is holding scent, the oils will sit in the piece over time and that is expected.
