The worker jacket is the most copied garment in menswear and almost every version of it is cotton drill, because that is what the originals were. This one is polyamide, and switching the fiber changes the garment more than the cut does: polyamide is light, it does not crease, it dries in an hour, and it takes a brown that stays brown rather than fading toward tan. Twenty-eight percent of it is recycled polyamide, which is a fiber fact rather than a slogan, since recycled polyamide is chemically the same material and behaves identically. The silhouette is taken from old work jackets and then made oversized, and the hem is left raw, so a garment designed for durability is finished in the one way a workwear maker never would.
Why we selected it
Chore jackets are the easiest thing in the world to buy and the hardest to buy well, because they are all the same. Changing the cloth is the only honest way to make a new one, and that is what this does.
Workwear is one of the archetypes this house returns to most, and the cloth is where it does the arguing rather than the pattern.
Materials and construction
Seventy-two percent polyamide and twenty-eight percent recycled polyamide, made in Portugal. Oversized fit on a vintage-inspired silhouette, with a raw hem. Color: Brown.
Fit notes
Oversized, so it layers over a shirt or a knit and is cut to. Polyamide has no give, so the size is fixed, and the fit does not relax with wear the way a cotton drill does. It runs in two sizes.
Styling
Over the Boxy Shirt and the Suit Pants. Over the Big Tee LS with the Normal Jeans. Under nothing, since it is cut to be the outer layer.
Care
Wash cool and hang it to dry, which is all polyamide ever asks for. Keep it away from heat: a hot wash, a tumble dryer, or a direct iron will glaze the surface, and a glazed synthetic does not recover. Press through a cloth if at all. Our care guidance covers the rest.
