The dad shoe is a category that exists because of a misunderstanding that turned out to be correct. Running shoes of this generation were built by engineers solving support problems, and the shapes that resulted, wide, layered, panelled, slightly graceless, were never styled at all. Two decades later that unstyled quality is exactly what makes them wearable, because a shoe that was never designed to look like anything does not date the way a designed one does. The 860v2 is a clean example: suede panels over a mesh base, which is the classic construction of the period and the reason these shoes hold their shape, since suede has body where mesh has none and the panels are effectively the structure. The cushioning is named in the maker’s own terms, Nergy for comfort and ABZORB for support. Grey, made in Vietnam.
Why we selected it
We wanted the version of this shoe that had not been redesigned to look like a collaboration, and this one has been left alone. The changes are quiet and the shoe underneath is the shoe.

Care
Suede and mesh want opposite things, which is why a shoe like this is never machine washed. Brush the suede dry with a suede brush and keep it away from water, since water marks suede and the mark sets. Clean the mesh separately and gently.
