An open collar is a specific construction rather than simply a shirt worn unbuttoned. It is cut so the collar stands and spreads away from the neck by design, with no top button to close, which gives the neckline a fixed and deliberate shape instead of the collapsed look a conventional collar has when left open. On a pleated shirt that suits the cloth well, since everything else in the garment falls in soft vertical lines and the collar is the one place a defined shape is wanted. April in the Monthly Colors calendar, which is the turn toward warmer weather and exactly where an open collar belongs.
Why we selected it
An open collar holds its shape where an unbuttoned conventional one slumps, and it is the detail that makes this a genuinely warm-weather shirt.
Materials and construction
100% polyester, made in Japan. Open collar, button-down front, pleated.
Fit notes
The open collar sits away from the neck. Pleated cloth opens as it is worn, so expect more room in motion.
Care
The pleats are heat-set and permanent, so it washes without losing them. Wash at 30°C or below in a laundry net on a short cycle, or press gently by hand, and never tumble dry, iron, steam, or dry clean. Store rolled along the direction of the pleats. Our fabric care guide covers polyester and technical cloth.
