Ann Demeulemeester Micro Boxer With Lace
$500.00
The boxer short as outerwear is a borrowing that only works if the cloth refuses to play along. In cotton jersey this would simply be underwear worn out of the house. In silk, on an elasticated waist, with lace at the hem, it becomes something else: the proportions are still borrowed but the material is arguing with them, and the tension between the two is the entire garment. It is a small idea, executed exactly, and it depends on the silk being good enough to carry it.
Why we selected it
It is the piece in the range that most clearly comes from the house’s punk half rather than its romantic half, and we wanted both represented.
The label was founded by Ann Demeulemeester in 1985 and has been designed by Stefano Gallici since 2023.
Materials and construction
One hundred percent silk, made in Italy, in black, with lace detailing and an elasticated waistband.
Fit notes
Mini length on an elasticated waist, so it accommodates a range through the hip. Silk does not stretch; the elastic is doing all of the give.
Styling and care
With opaque tights and the Danny Ankle Boots, or over a slim trouser. The proportions are the argument, so nothing else should be short. Silk with elastic in it should never be wrung or hung wet, since the weight pulls the elastic out of shape permanently. Our care guidance covers silk.
