Engineered Garments Fatigue Pant

Twill is a weave with a stagger in it. Each weft thread passes over and under the warp on a step from the row before, so the interlacings form a diagonal line running across the cloth, and that diagonal is what makes twill behave the way it does. Fewer interlacings than a plain weave of the same count means the cloth is more pliable and drapes rather than holds. The diagonal also sheds dirt and hides it, which is why twill has been the working trouser weave for two hundred years.

Run lightweight and cut on a straight fatigue leg in black, it makes the plainest trouser in this brand’s run. There is nothing to say about the colour and nothing to say about the surface, and that is the point of owning it.

One hundred percent cotton in a lightweight twill, made in the USA. Straight leg. Colour: Black.

Fit notes

Straight through the leg, falling from the knee without narrowing. Lightweight twill drapes rather than holds a shape, so this sits closer to the leg than the heavier fatigue trousers in the line do.

Styling

With anything. That is not evasion: a plain black lightweight trouser is the piece that exists so the rest of the wardrobe can be interesting. The Work Shirt, the Polo Shirt, the Raglan Hoodie, the Bedford in any of its cloths.

Care

Wash cool and hang to dry. Black cotton loses depth under heat and under sun, so avoid a hot dryer and dry it out of direct light. Our cotton care guidance covers the rest.
