Margaret Howell MHL Big Pocket Swing Shirt

A swing cut is a shape borrowed from coats: the body is drafted wider at the hem than at the chest, so instead of falling in a straight line it flares gently and moves independently of the person inside it. On a shirt that is unusual and it changes the whole character of the garment, because a shirt that swings cannot be tucked and is not trying to be. MHL by Margaret Howell has cut it in a plain cotton and left it at that. The pocket is scaled to the shape rather than to convention, which is the difference between a large pocket and a badly placed one.
Why we selected it
It is the least fussy thing in this line and the one most likely to be worn on a day when nothing is being decided.
Materials and construction
One hundred percent cotton, made in Portugal. Swing cut with a large pocket. Color: Off-White.
Fit, styling, and care
Wide through the hem and easy through the body; worn out, always. Lettered sizing. Over the MHL Wide Leg Jogger or the MHL Painters Trouser, where a wide top over a wide bottom is the proportion the line is built on. Wash cool and dry in shade rather than sun, which sets a yellow into an off-white. Our general care guidance covers the rest.
