Nicholas Daley Wave Scarf
$309.60
A scarf is the least complicated way to own a pattern. It sits at the neck, where it is the first thing anyone sees, and it commits you to nothing, which is why a graphic that would be a decision on a sweater is simply a pleasure on a scarf. This one carries the same wave Daley knits into the crew neck, in the same merino and the same navy against ecru, so the two work together and neither depends on the other. Merino is the fine end of sheep’s wool, soft enough to wear against the neck without prickle, naturally elastic, and better at managing damp than anything synthetic.
Why we selected it
We took the scarf and the sweater together because the pattern is the best thing Daley has put into a knit and we wanted it available in two forms. A customer who is not ready for a patterned sweater is often ready for this.
Materials and construction
One hundred percent merino wool, made in Turkey. Knitted wave pattern. Colours: navy and ecru.
Sizing and how it is worn
One size, as a scarf is. Merino at this fineness will drape and knot rather than standing away from the neck, so it works looped once and left long, or knotted under a coat collar.
Styling and care
With the Wave Knitted Crew Neck if you want the set, or against any plain coat he makes, where it will be the only pattern. Under the Oversized Rain Coat it is very good. Fold it rather than hanging it, air it between wearings, and hand wash in cool water with a wool detergent only when it needs it, then dry flat. Our fabric care guidance covers the rest.
