Yeung Chin Embroidered Vest T

Two colors in one small garment is a harder thing to get right than a single color, because there is nowhere for a bad relationship between them to hide. Black and cream is the version of that pairing with the most contrast available and the least warmth, and it is the combination that recurs through this house rather than a one-off. The garment is a vest tee, which is to say a sleeveless cotton top built to be worn under other things as much as on its own, and cotton is the fiber that makes the second half of that possible: it takes a wash, it takes heat, and it does not object to being the layer that gets worn most. We describe no other detailing on it, and that is a statement about what we know rather than a statement about the garment.

Why we selected it

We wanted a plain sleeveless cotton layer in the house’s own colors, because the rest of the collection is built to go over something and most of what people put underneath comes from somewhere else.

Materials and construction

Cotton, in black and cream, and that is the whole of what we can tell you. We do not hold a percentage figure for the cotton and we do not hold a country of origin for this piece, so we claim neither. If either matters to your decision, please ask us and we will read the label with you.

Care

Cotton is the most forgiving fiber there is and this is a plain cotton garment. Wash it cool, air dry it rather than tumbling it, and it will outlast most of what you put over it. One caution that comes from the color rather than the cloth: black and cream in one garment means washing it with its own kind for the first few cycles rather than with whites.
