Jakob Hetzer Hook Belt
$180.00
A hook closure is a different mechanism from a buckle, and the difference is structural rather than stylistic. A prong buckle works by driving a pin through the belt, which means the belt has to be perforated at intervals, and every one of those holes is a place where the material has been made weaker. A hook engages the belt rather than passing through it. There are no holes, so there is no interval at which anything has been cut away, and the load is carried by the weave rather than by the edge of a punched opening. On a woven nylon that matters more than it would on leather, because a nylon webbing is strongest along its length and weakest wherever it has been interrupted. Stainless steel is the right metal for the hardware for the same unglamorous reason: it is the one that does not corrode against a synthetic and does not mark it.
Sizing and dimensions
Three point three centimeters wide, and that is the only dimension we can give you. It is narrower than a conventional dress belt and wider than a strap, which is the band where a belt reads as hardware rather than as a waistband. It is sold in one size. We do not hold a length or a range of adjustment, so if you need to know whether it will close where you want it to, call the store and someone will hold it against a measurement.
