Remove the straps from an overall and you have to solve the problem they were solving, which is how the garment stays up and how the wearer gets into it. This one answers both with hardware: a zip at the front and a zip at the back, so the piece opens from either side and closes into a straight strapless line. That is a more radical change than it sounds. An overall is defined by its bib and its straps, and taking them away leaves a garment that reads as a jumpsuit until you look at the cloth, which is unmistakably denim and unmistakably built like workwear. The legs run full length, to the floor, so the line is unbroken from the chest down and the whole garment is one column of denim. The mid wash keeps it in the world it came from rather than turning it into an evening piece.

Strapless is normally a dress-up decision and denim is normally a dress-down one. Putting the two together produces something with no obvious occasion, which in our experience is the sort of garment that gets worn most.

Strapless, so the fit at the chest is doing all of the holding and is what to choose for. Denim has no give, which is an advantage on a strapless garment, because a cloth that does not relax is a cloth that stays where it was put. The legs run to the floor, so the hem is set by the height of the shoe under it rather than by the size chosen. The two zips mean it can be opened from either direction, which matters more on a strapless piece than on anything else.

This is a washed denim and not a raw one, so there is no argument for leaving it unwashed. Wash inside out and cool, with the zips closed so they do not catch, and keep it out of a hot dryer. Our care guidance covers the rest.
