The high neck is what makes this different from every other long tee. The usual solution to an elongated body is to open the neckline, because a long garment with a closed neck can read as heavy. This does the opposite and closes the neck, so the silhouette runs uninterrupted from the jaw to the hem as one line rather than two shapes. It is a more severe garment than the length alone would suggest and it is the better decision.
It is also the piece where a small cashmere content earns its place, which is not true of most blends. Ten percent cashmere will not warm you and does not claim to; at that proportion it is a surface decision rather than an insulating one. What it changes is the hand, and a high neck is the one place on a garment where the hand stops being an abstraction, because the cloth sits against the throat all day. The ninety percent cotton keeps the weight, the breathability, and the ability to wash it. Buy this for the neckline, and take the softness at the throat as the reason the cashmere is in it at all.
Why we selected it
We took it for the neckline. Long tees are easy to find and long tees with a high neck are not, and this one gets worn under everything from October onward. The blend is the second reason and the smaller one: a jersey that is kinder at the throat than plain cotton is worth having in a garment cut to sit there.
Materials and construction
Ninety percent cotton and ten percent cashmere, made in Italy, in black. Jersey, with a high neck and an elongated cut.
Fit notes
Elongated, so it runs past the hip. The high neck sits close and is intended to. A cotton-dominant jersey behaves like cotton, following the body, relaxing across a day, and recovering with washing, and ten percent cashmere does not change any of that. Take your usual size.
Styling and care
Under the sleeveless turtleneck, where the high neck reads as a deliberate double. Under either leather outershirt. With black trousers. For care, treat it as cotton with one exception: the cashmere is the fibre in it that suffers first from heat, so wash cool inside out, dry flat, and keep the piece out of a dryer altogether. See our care guidance for the rest.
