Rick Owens T-Shirt – Rib LS T

Semi-sheer is deliberate at this weight, and it is what separates this from an ordinary long-sleeved tee. The jersey is light enough to read as a shadow rather than a solid, so the shirt sits on the body as a colour and a line instead of as a block, which is the whole reason to cut a base layer this fine. The raw hem and cuffs add nothing at the openings. Below the hip, slim through the body.

Cardinal red is the other decision. This designer works in black and greyed neutrals and only rarely does anything else, so a saturated red is a season marker rather than a colourway.

Why we selected it

We took the red because it is the version of this shirt that will not come back. Black is a permanent fixture of this designer’s line; a cardinal red long-sleeved tee from it is not.

Materials and construction

One hundred percent cotton, made in Italy, in cardinal red. Lightweight semi-sheer jersey, slim fit, below hip length, with a raw cut hem and cuffs.

Fit notes

Slim and below the hip. Semi-sheer at this weight means it reads as a layer even worn alone, which is worth knowing before ordering. Raw edges curl slightly with wear. Cotton jersey relaxes across a day. Take your usual size.

Styling and care

Under either leather outershirt, where the red at the neck and cuff is the whole idea. Under the sleeveless turtleneck. With black trousers. For care, wash cool inside out and keep it out of a hot dryer, since saturated colour is what fades first. Our care guidance covers the rest.
