Rick Owens T-Shirt Level T

An ordinary tee has no seam down the back, because the back is cut as one piece and there is no reason to divide it. This one is seamed down the centre spine, which means the back is cut as two panels and joined, adding a step to the making for no functional gain. It is the house’s mark, it is the thing to look for when identifying one of these, and on a milk-coloured semi-sheer jersey it is clearly visible rather than hidden in black.

Below the hip, soft, and light enough to read as a layer worn alone.

Why we selected it

It is the plainest garment that still carries the construction, which makes it easy to explain and easier to wear. That is the whole case.

Materials and construction

One hundred percent cotton, made in Italy, in milk. Soft, semi-sheer jersey, below hip length, with a seam running down the centre back spine.

Fit notes

Below the hip. Semi-sheer at this weight, so it will read as a layer even alone, which is worth knowing in a pale colour. Cotton jersey relaxes across a day and recovers with washing. Take your usual size.

Styling and care

With black trousers. Under either leather outershirt, where the pale body against black is the strongest version. Alone in summer. For care, wash cool inside out and keep it out of a hot dryer. Our care guidance covers the rest.
