4S Designs Long Sleeve Woven Polo

A polo shirt is a knit by definition and by history, so cutting one from a woven cloth changes what the garment does. A knitted polo stretches, clings a little, and follows the body. A woven one has no give in it, so it hangs from the shoulder and holds a line, and the placket and the collar stop reading as sportswear and start reading as a shirt with the buttons in an unusual place. The cloth is viscose with polyamide in it, which means it is fluid rather than crisp, so the garment falls rather than standing. Purple, in a woven surface that takes light more evenly than a knit does.

Why we selected it

The polo is a shape almost nobody re-cuts, and changing it from knit to woven is a small decision that changes everything about how it wears.

Rebuilding a familiar garment out of the wrong material is what this house does, and a woven polo is the least showy example of it in the collection.

Viscose and polyamide, woven. Long sleeve, polo collar and placket. Color: purple.

We do not hold percentage figures for this cloth and we do not hold a country of origin. Most of the rest of this collection states Made in Italy and this does not, so nothing is assumed from the others. Please ask us and we will look at the piece with you.

Fit notes

Sized Medium and Large. A woven polo has no stretch, so it should be chosen for the chest and the shoulder the way a shirt is, not the way a knit polo is. It will hang rather than cling, and it will crease where a knit would not.

Styling

Care

Viscose governs and it is weakest when wet, so keep this out of a machine and have it cleaned. Press on the reverse at low heat, since the polyamide will not take a hot iron. Our care guidance covers the rest.
