NemeN Puf _ Multipocket Parachute Short – Vulcan Soil
$432.00
This is the parachute trouser’s cloth cut short, and the change is not only length. The same 73 percent cotton and 27 percent nylon carries ripstop detailing here, a grid of heavier reinforcing yarns woven in at intervals so that a tear meets a thicker thread and stops instead of running. On a short that matters more than it does on a trouser, because a short spends its life against chairs, walls, and the inside of a car. The pockets are the other half of it: flap pockets set at the waist rather than patch pockets stitched to the leg, which keeps the volume close to the body and stops a cargo short reading as a costume. Cotton at nearly three quarters means it wears like clothing rather than like equipment, softening across a summer. Made in Indonesia.
Why we selected it
Most technical shorts are a trouser pattern cut off at the knee. This one moves the pockets to the waist and reinforces the cloth, which are the two changes that actually follow from making a short instead of a trouser.
NemeN puts one developed cloth through several garments rather than developing a cloth per garment, and the Puf is that cloth’s summer form.
The colour
Vulcan Soil is the house’s own name, kept as written. It is the warm end of gray, and on a ripstop weave the reinforcing grid catches light slightly differently from the ground, so the color has a faint structure in it at close range.
Materials and construction
Seventy-three percent cotton and 27 percent nylon, with ripstop detailing. Flap pockets at the waist. Made in Indonesia.
Fit notes
Cut generously through the thigh, with the pocket volume carried at the waist rather than on the leg, so the silhouette stays clean below the hip. Cotton at this proportion relaxes across a day and returns with washing.
Styling
With the Ash Jumbo Pocket T-shirt in Grey. With the Joel Messenger Bag, which is cut from this cloth without the ripstop. Under the Nover Quilted Liner when a summer evening turns.
Care
The nylon decides the temperature even at 27 percent, so wash cool, skip the dryer, and keep a hot iron away from the ripstop grid, which is the part of the weave that shows heat first. Our care guidance covers the rest.
