Raw hems and cuffs on a lightweight cotton jersey give you a garment with no thickness at any opening, so it sits flat under everything and the edges soften and curl very slightly as it is worn. Cropped above the waist, which means it works over a high waistband rather than tucking into one. It is a deliberately plain garment and it earns its place by being the layer that never shows.
Why we selected it
Every wardrobe built around this designer needs the cotton crop that goes under everything, and this is it. There is no grander reason and we are not going to construct one.
Materials and construction
One hundred percent cotton, made in Italy, in black. Soft, lightweight jersey, cropped above the waist, with a raw hem and raw cuffs.
Fit notes
Cropped above the waist and close to the body. Raw cotton edges curl a little with wear, which is expected. Cotton jersey relaxes across a day and recovers with washing. Take your usual size.
Styling and care
Under either cropped outershirt, which is the pairing it exists for. Under the Jumbo Tabard Top. With high-waisted trousers. For care, wash cool inside out and dry flat or hang away from heat. Our care guidance covers the rest.
