An ordinary long-sleeved tee has no seam down the back, because the back is cut as one piece and there is no reason to divide it. This one is seamed down the centre spine, which means the back is cut as two panels and joined, adding a step to the making for no functional gain at all. It is the house’s mark, it is the thing to look for when identifying one of these, and on a milk-coloured jersey it is visible rather than lost in black.

Soft, light, and long sleeved. There is nothing else on it, which is the point.

Why we selected it

It is the plainest long-sleeved thing that still carries the construction, which makes it easy to explain and easier to wear. That is the case in full.

Materials and construction

One hundred percent cotton, made in Italy, in milk. Soft lightweight jersey, long sleeved, with a seam running down the centre back spine.

Fit notes

Light enough to read as a layer even worn alone, which is worth knowing in a pale colour. Cotton jersey relaxes across a day and recovers with washing. Take your usual size.

Styling and care

With black trousers, where a pale body against black is the strongest version of it. Under either leather jacket. Under the Peter Cardigan. For care, wash cool inside out and keep it out of a hot dryer, which is what greys a milk cotton first. Our care guidance covers cotton in more detail.
