Rick Owens SS26 Printed Astro Scarf

$420.00

The artwork on this scarf is titled “TEMPLE OF LOVE – OWENSCORP,” and that phrase is not decoration. Temple of Love is the name of the Palais Galliera’s retrospective of Owens’s work, which ran in Paris from June 2025 into January 2026: over a hundred looks, private documents, installations built for the museum, and thirty cement sculptures in the garden. It is the first time the city’s museum of dress has given its full programme to him. The Spring/Summer 2026 collection, titled Temple, was shown during it.

That makes this scarf a document rather than an accessory. A printed square carrying the title of a museum retrospective, made by the house in the season the retrospective was running, is the kind of object that is ordinary now and interesting in ten years. We do not usually make that argument about anything, and we are making it here.

Printed on a square, in black against milk. The graphic is the entire design and the format is the plainest available, which is correct: a printed square has been the standard format for an artwork you can wear for about a century, and there was no reason to improve on it.

Why we selected it

We bought this because of what it is attached to. It carries the exhibition’s own title, printed by the house in the season the exhibition was running, and it is the piece we would point to when explaining why this designer matters beyond the clothes. It is also, practically, a large square scarf in a neutral pair of colours, which is a useful thing regardless of any of the above.

Materials and construction

One hundred percent cotton. Made in Italy, in Black and Milk. Square, fifty-five inches by fifty-five, printed with the artwork “TEMPLE OF LOVE – OWENSCORP.” From the Spring/Summer 2026 Temple collection.

Sizing and dimensions

Fifty-five inches square, which is roughly a hundred and forty centimetres and is the standard large-square format. That is enough cloth to wear as a shawl across the shoulders, to fold to a triangle and still cover a coat collar, or to knot at the neck with most of the graphic still readable. It is not a neck scarf and it should not be bought expecting one.

How it is worn

Over the shoulders, at the neck, or folded through the handle of a bag. A printed square is genuinely unisex and is worn by both of us. Black and milk will go with anything, which on a scarf carrying a graphic this strong is the reason it is wearable at all.

Care

The cotton is the forgiving half of this and the print is not. Keep it out of prolonged direct sun, which takes a printed graphic down faster than wearing it ever will, wash it cool by hand rather than sending a large square through a machine that will crease it in places it will not forget, and dry it flat away from heat. Press on the reverse if it needs it. Our care guidance covers cotton in detail.
