Tibi Washable Cashmere Oversize Easy T

The point of a cashmere tee is that it feels better than a cotton one and looks like nothing. The problem with a cashmere tee is that it usually has to be handled like a sweater, which defeats the object, since nobody wants a garment this plain to also be a responsibility. Tibi’s washable cashmere, a seventy-thirty wool and cashmere blend finished to survive a machine cycle, is what resolves it. Cut oversized, it hangs from the shoulder rather than following the body, and it does the two jobs a tee has to do: it works on its own, and it disappears under everything else.

Why we selected it

We wear these. That is most of the reason. The other part is that a soft layer this plain has to be washable or it does not get worn, and this one is.

Materials and construction

Seventy percent wool and thirty percent cashmere, in the house’s washable cashmere knit. Navy blue. Oversized cut.

Fit notes

Cut deliberately loose through the body and shoulder, so it reads as volume rather than as a size up. It layers under a jacket without bunching if the jacket is not close-cut, and works over the Slip Skirt or a trouser as the whole top half.

Styling and care

With the Alec Jean or under the Tropical Wool Liam Blazer, which are the two things it will actually be worn with. Machine wash cool on a wool cycle and dry flat, never in a dryer and never on a hanger, since weight on a shoulder seam is what stretches a knit out permanently.
