Bouclé is a yarn before it is a cloth. It is spun so that loops are thrown out along its length, and when it is woven those loops sit on the surface and give a fabric a broken, nubbled face that catches light unevenly. Here it is worked as a stripe in cotton, ninety percent of it, with polyamide at ten, and kept light enough to layer. The shirt is lined in plain cotton, which most shirts are not, so the smooth side is the side against you. Red, and the loops break the light up, so the red reads as a depth rather than as a flat block.

A textured shirt that is still light enough to layer is genuinely uncommon, because texture usually arrives with weight. This one does not.

The house builds its interest into the cloth rather than into the cut, and a plain shirt in a bouclé stripe is the shortest statement of that.

Ninety percent cotton and ten percent polyamide, woven as a lightweight needlepoint bouclé stripe, and lined in one hundred percent cotton. The cloth is called Stripe 63, which names this particular stripe and weave taken together rather than a mill or an article number. Color: Red.

Sized M, L, and XL. Cut to work both as a layer and on its own, which puts it in the middle rather than at either end: not so slim that a knit will not go under it and not so full that it disappears beneath a jacket.

Under the Long Sleeve Organza Shirt Blazer or the PL Bar Blazer. With the Triple Pleat Pant or the 5 Pocket Denim Black, which is the flattest possible ground for a red textured stripe.

Cotton at ninety percent governs this shirt, so wash it cool and gently or have it cleaned. A looped surface should not be pressed hard, because crushing the loops is the one thing that cannot be undone, and the polyamide will not take a hot iron in any case. Our care guidance covers the rest.
