Comme des Garçon Homme Heavy Weight Black Hoodie

Weight is most of what a hooded sweatshirt is. A heavyweight cotton holds a shape at the shoulder and the cuff, keeps the hood standing when it is down, and survives being worn several times a week for several years, all of which a light one does not. This one is heavyweight cotton throughout with a kangaroo pocket, and then there is a strap on the hood, which is the single element that is not standard. A strap on a hood is a structural detail rather than a decorative one: it changes how the hood sits and gives it somewhere to be pulled to. Black, made in Japan.

Why we selected it

A hoodie earns its place on weight, and this one has it. The hood strap is the reason we took this one rather than another at the same weight.

Comme des Garçons Homme adds a single component to a standard garment more often than it redesigns one, and the hood strap is that component here.

One hundred percent heavyweight cotton. Kangaroo pocket, and a strap detail on the hood. Made in Japan. Color: Black.

Fit notes

Heavyweight cotton hangs from the shoulder rather than sitting on it, so this reads longer and straighter than a mid-weight sweat of the same size. It also shrinks in length before width if it is dried hot, which is worth avoiding on a garment cut long.

Care

Wash cool, inside out, and dry away from heat. Heavy cotton takes a long time to dry and it is worth the wait, because a dryer is what takes the length out of it. Our care guidance covers the rest.
