Comme des Garçons Homme Fatigue Trousers

A fatigue trouser is one of the few garments where the reference is a specification rather than a style, and the specification was written for cotton canvas in olive green. This one keeps both. Canvas is a plain weave carried at high yarn density, which is why it feels closer to a board than to a twill when it is new and why it changes so much: the fibers soften at the knee and the seat and the back of the thigh, in that order, and after a season the trouser is shaped to one person. That process is the reason to buy canvas rather than a twill, which is more comfortable immediately and identical forever. One hundred percent cotton, olive green, made in Japan.

Why we selected it

Most fatigue trousers we are shown are cut from a twill and finished to feel broken in on the hanger. We would rather sell the version that starts honest and earns it.

Comme des Garçons Homme works in ordinary garments more often than the house’s reputation suggests, and a plain olive fatigue is what that looks like at its plainest.

One hundred percent cotton canvas. Made in Japan. Color: Olive Green.

Fit notes

Canvas has body and very little give, so a fatigue trouser reads straighter and stands further from the leg than a twill of the same measurements would. It relaxes with wearing rather than with sizing up. Cotton at full strength shrinks on a hot wash and does not come back, which is the one thing worth knowing before the first clean.

Styling

Under the Homme Bomber Jacket or the Homme Fleece Jacket. With the Homme Gingham Shirt for the version that is doing the least, or with the Homme Jersey Hoodie for the version that is doing the most. Olive takes black without argument and takes navy badly.

Care

Wash cool and dry away from heat, because heat is what shrinks cotton canvas and shrinkage in cotton is permanent. Press while damp if you want the crease back. Our care guidance covers the rest.
